With 11 years of coaching experience with extraordinary individuals, I realize that everything is a matter of perceptions – perceptions built from our past experiences and our acquired knowledge. How to change habits when our perceptions are deeply rooted? I hope to give you some solutions with this article!
Define your goal
To make sure you don’t lose your way too easily, it’s essential to have a realistic goal: what? – who? – when? – how? – how much? – why? How can we know what direction to take otherwise? Does that make sense?
Assess your goal
Once the goal is clear – a clear vision – it’s important to assess the potential barriers to achieving this goal. And that’s where our perceptions can alter our judgment or even make us doubt our capabilities! As I mentioned at the beginning, our perceptions are the fruit of our past and of our knowledge. To take your project to the next level, ask yourself the following three questions: Do I have the tools? Do I have the knowledge? The third is a little painful : Am I in my own way? And yes, we often have a clear goal, all the tools and knowledge, but we’re also our own enemy. Working upstream with the answers becomes easier and reaching our goal faster!
Bye bye past
The past is an experience, that’s all! It doesn’t define our ability to build our lives, live our dreams and reach our goals. Unfortunately, we let our past define our future results too often.
I hope this article will serve you. If you want to share your experience and/or comment, I’ll be more than happy to read you!
