You are not alone! Why is it so difficult to pursue our goals, despite the fact that we are motivated and determined? Do we know the psychology behind reaching a goal? Do we know how our subconscious reacts to change? Here are three important points to consider to help us in the pursuit of our new habits:
Our resistance to change
It takes 21 to 66 days to be comfortable with new habits. Our subconscious mind is not fond of change because it requires us to step out of our comfort zone. Think about it: who likes to be uncomfortable? At the slightest discomfort, most of us return to our comfort zone simply by survival instinct. That’s why success is not easily accessible! Only the most stubborn and persevering will get there!
Our unrealistic goals
We are impatient and want to get the most out of it. Do you recognize yourself? Remember how many months and years we have neglected our health. Well, it takes our body that same amount of time to get back into shape and health. It does not happen in a heart beat! And there is no miracle pill either, I did my research. For lasting changes in our body composition, for example, it is important to have realistic goals. A healthy and optimal fat loss is -0.5 to -2.0 lbs per week, while a healthy and optimal muscle gain is +0.5 to 2.0 lbs per week. For an improvement of our overall health, it can take a few weeks for recovering sleep, better energy daily, or even reduced sugar cravings!
We are all unique and therefore need a personalized strategy based on our goals, needs and reality. Choosing an approach that is aligned with us is critical to the success of achieving a goal. Ask questions, shop : there are many beautiful creative and professional options out there. There is no one-fit-all solution, so let’s be vigilant and educate ourselves about the functioning and needs of our body!
